NX Atomics Launches to Solve the Cost Problem of Nuclear Power

TEXAS — January 25, 2026 — NX Atomics, an advanced nuclear company, today announced its formation with a single mission: to solve the problem that has held nuclear power back for decades, which is cost. The company is developing high-temperature small modular reactors (SMRs) for clean baseload power and industrial process heat, designed from the start to be affordable to build and to operate.

Nuclear is among the most reliable sources of clean energy available, yet it has remained too expensive and too slow to build to compete at the scale the country needs. The reason is not the physics. It is the way reactors have been built: as bespoke, one-off megaprojects, with custom components, long lead times, and costs that climb with every delay. NX Atomics was founded on the conviction that nuclear's cost problem is a manufacturing problem, and that it can be solved.

The company's approach is to treat reactor production like modern manufacturing rather than heavy construction. By standardizing its reactor design and producing components faster and more affordably, NX Atomics intends to drive down the unit cost of every reactor it builds and to make clean nuclear power deployable across data centers, heavy industry, and the electric grid.

"We started NX Atomics because the world needs abundant clean energy, and nuclear is the most reliable way to deliver it," said John Warden, Chief Executive Officer of NX Atomics. "The barrier has never been whether nuclear works. It is whether we can build it affordably. That is the problem we exist to solve."

Founded in Texas, NX Atomics is assembling the team, partnerships, and manufacturing strategy needed to bring its first reactors to market. The company will share details on its headquarters and early collaborations in the months ahead.
